Police are still trying to piece together exactly how a woman managed to get on the Hutchinson River Parkway driving her car in the wrong direction near the Weaver Street exit, causing a crash that killed her and injured two others.

LoHud reports that Damita Mathis, 56, of Beacon Falls, CT was driving her 2014 Kia Sorento southbound in the northbound lane around 4:35 am.

A 2008 Land Rover and 2012 Mercedes sedan were also involved in the crash. The Land Rover driver, Mahendra Danrajh, 29, of Waterbury, Connecticut, was seriously injured and also taken to Westchester Medical. Michayl Velikov, 44, of Queens, who drove the Mercedes, declined medical attention at the scene.

The crash, which closed both lanes of the Hutchinson parkway until about 3 p.m. on Sunday, happened in Scarsdale, north of the Weaver Street exit.
