Westchester’s Best Right Here at Home

We already know that our Loop-area communities are the best places to be in Westchester. So it’s no wonder that an abundance of our favorite haunts and hangouts have been included in Westchester Magazine‘s 2011 Best of Westchester list.

The eclectic mix of local hot spots received raves for a range of reasons. Loop favorite Cienega  in New Rochelle, got kudos for its exceptional design, while Larchmont’s Vintage 1891 got two shout outs — one for its “adult” bourbon flavored ice cream, and the other for being the best spot for a grown-up date night.

We love that readers picked fabulous Euro Laser Services in Rye as their favorite place for a facial (treat yourself with a Loop discount), and that the new tea salon at The Voracious Reader is the best the county has to offer.

Recologie, also in Larchmont, is hailed on the list for being the best eco-forward shop around (good news: a Loop discount is available for Recologie too).

And yum! The decadent and delicious Chocolations in Mamaroneck was officially named the best place to spend an afternoon with the kids. And, well, we couldn’t deny our Little Darlings that, could we?

Lucky for us, there are many, many more. For the complete Best of Westchester 2011 list visit Westchester Magazine’s website.

You left out Alvin & Friends, which was selected for “Best Fried Chicken”: “Chef Raymond Jackson’s fried chicken is a wonder of texture, with a crunchy, deep-fried crust that yields to greaseless, super-juicy meat.” Alvin & Friends, located at 49 Lawton Street, serves a full menu of Suuthern and Caribbean influenced dishes in a sopshisticated setting with a NYC vibe. Telephone 654-6549 for reservations!

You’re right! After just one visit, I am so excited about having Alvin & Friends in the neighborhood for so many reasons — great vibe, great food. Only problem with it being touted — although well-deserved — is I’m worried I won’t be able to get a table!
