FRIDAY

 

Head over to the New Rochelle Public Library for a Book Sale between 9 and 3 p.m. There will be books, DVDs, puzzles and more at affordable prices. While you’re there, check out the Face 2 Face Exhibit in its last day. www.nrpl.org

 

Every Friday is Story Time Friday day at Paint Your Own Pottery in Scarsdale. Kids ages three and up can listen to a story and then paint a character from the book from 10:30 – 11 a.m. A $15 material fee covers instruction, pottery, materials, cleanup, glazing and firing. This week’s Make a Splash Summer Fun Club at the Rye Free Reading Room is all about oceans. From 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., kids four and up can come to hear stories about ships and sailing the oceans. www.ryelibrary.org

 

This weekend at the Watercolor Café, enjoy a lineup of jazz and blues. On Friday, the David Janeway Trio hits the stage at 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Leslie Pintchik Trio begins entertaining at the same time. Go green, it’s easy! Bring everyone along for Composting for the Whole Family at the Greenburgh Nature Center, starting at 10:30 a.m. Learn how everyday yard and food waste can be transformed into valuable fertilizer. Free for members; $6 nonmembers. www.greenburghnaturecenter.org

 

The Mamaroneck Artists’ Guild hosts its first open juried fine craft show starting at 12 p.m., running through September 6. Entries are due for Imagine 2010 by September 12 for the October 14 – November 6 show. www.mamaroneckartistsguild.org
