Deborah Baker will read from and discuss “The Convert: A Tale of Exile and Extremism” her riveting biography of a most passionate woman who rejected her upper middle class mores, abandoned her country and faith, and accepted a life of exile in Pakistan.

October 22: Rye Town Park will open an exhibition of David Tobey’s welded steel sculpture by their Duck Pond on Saturday afternoon, October 22nd from 2-4 p.m. with a reception for the artist. The exhibition will run through November 17th, and a portion of the proceeds from any sale of sculpture will benefit The Friends of Rye Town Park.

October 23: Central School in Larchmont’s biggest event is creeping up this weekend –SCARE FAIR 2011!From 12pm to 4pm. This popular, autumn fair is one of the most important PTA fundraising events of the year and involves hundreds of parent, teacher and student volunteers.
October 24: Race to Nowhere, the critically acclaimed documentary, will be shown at Murray Avenue School, 250 Murray Ave., Larchmont. 7 PM. Race to Nowhere is a call to action for families, educators and policy makers to challenge the current assumptions on how to best prepare our kids to become healthy, bright, contributing and leading citizens.
