Updated- Residents of homes near North Chatsworth Avenue in Larchmont P.O. were startled by loud noises that may have been the sounds of gunfire.
Mamaroneck Town Police say they received several reports of what appeared to have been shots fired about 10:13 pm Tuesday.
Officers canvassed the area around the Carlton House apartments, at 35 N. Chatsworth Ave., says Town Police Lieutenant Robert Koziak, and found a car in the parking lot damaged by bullets, and a bullet hole in a nearby house on N. Chatsworth Avenue.
The family in the house was home, and the bullet entered the front wall and struck a living room cabinet. No one was hurt. The family asked not to be identified.
Carol Coleman, a resident at the Carlton House, told Channel 7,”I was working on my computer and I heard shots, and I’m in the corner apartment there on the fourth floor, so I looked out the window and I saw two men running, got into a car and sped off and turned right on Jefferson.”
In the parking lot, a purple Lexus convertible was hit, say police, and is owned by Carlton House Resident Lynda LaMonte, who publishes a local blog, Lyndalarch.com
As CBS2’s Lou Young reported, police would not say if she was the target or if her car was hit by accident.
The case remains under investigation.
