In Scarsdale Undercover, we share some of the more…unnecessary…police activity that seems to occur only in Scarsdale, New York. The “real” crimes will continue to appear in our weekly Police Blotter.
A caller on March 14 reported a man parked in front of a yogurt store slumped over the steering wheel of his car. Turns out the man was just waiting for his wife.
On March 14, a caller reported cars parked illegally, causing hazardous conditions near Willow Lane and Cushman Road. Police found vehicles all parked according to the rules. The next day, police received another report of illegally parked cars, these supposedly at a Carstensen Road house. Officers didn’t find any parking problems there either.
A Harvest Drive resident reported that a U-Haul truck, parked in front of a neighbor’s home on March 15, left suddenly when she stepped outside. Upon arriving, officers spoke with the caller’s neighbors’ teenage son, who said he didn’t see the U-Haul but everything was okay.
MORE PARKING PROBLEMS
On March 16, police received a call from a woman saying she had a verbal run-in with a parking lot attendant but because she had a doctor appointment she would not be there when officers arrived. After chatting with the attendant, police learned that the woman had become angry when told the lot was reserved for Scarsdale Avenue businesses and said she’d call police.
An individual on March 17 called 911 to report seeing a fox on Sycamore Road. Police couldn’t find it.
On March 18, a Garth Road resident called police, saying “there are three kids allowing a German shepherd to ‘poop’ all over the place and aren’t picking it up.” Officers found no kids, no dogs and no “evidence of anyone not picking up after their dog.”
