Salon Raises Money for Japan

Gjoko’s in Larchmont raised over $9000 for victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan on Sunday.

Says Gjoko Shkreli, owner of the salon and spa on Myrtle Boulevard, “We were open on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 10p.m. providing all hair and spa services at our regular prices; makeup- $50 and 30-minute photo shoot for $50. Over 20 employees donated their time and talents to work that day and help raise funds for the Japan victims of the Earthquake and Tsunami. Alex Selimaj, a professional photographer from NYC dontated his time as well and came to take professional pictures of clients who got their hair and makeup done, for an additional $50.

“It felt so wonderful to open our hearts and doors to lend a helping hand. Everyone needs help during hard times, and when some of us who are more fortunate like America where we are an industrialized and growing country and for the most part, better off than some other countries; why not help out when it is possible. God forbid, if anything happens to us, we would ask for as much help as we can get.”
