Our friends at Espana will bid adieu tonight (Thursday, June 27) after five and a half years serving tapas and other Spanish delights at 147 Larchmont Ave.
The space will be a second location for Eastchester’s Polpettina–bringing the same concept after doing some cosmetic changes on the building which the Perez family owns; they will continue to run the ever-popular Tequila Sunrise next door.
The Wall Street Journal recently wrote of Polpettina, “The restaurant fills an unusual niche: comfort food that is on occasion wildly ambitious.”
We can use somma dat.
Richie Perez of Espana writes,
It is not easy to write these words and tell you, our loyal friends and patrons, that after an amazing five and a half years that we will be officially closing our doors this Thursday June 27th after service.
We have made a lot of friends over the years and shared a tremendous amount of good times with all of our guests. I cannot put into words how much this has meant to all of us at the restaurant. Your support and patronage is what has kept our doors open and made it a joy to come to work every day. I am so happy for all of the friends I have made over the years at our tables and bar stools and will miss you all dearly.
I believe we have handed over our location to a great restaurant and feel they will do very well in the neighborhood. I will be pursuing other ventures in the coming future and hope to see you around the neighborhood. Thank you for the memories and for giving me the opportunity to do what I love to do.
If you are in the neighborhood on Thursday please stop by to say good bye. Our man on the piano, Gary Klein, will be playing one last time and we would love to share a drink with you.
& the Staff of España Wine & Tapas Bar
See you at Tequila, Rich. Thanks for a great five years.
