40 Ocean Avenue, Larchmont

from Larchmont Historical Society:

The Larchmont Historical Society and Preserve Larchmont can use your help.

The last year has seen much activity, discussion and legal action surrounding the demolition of historic homes in Larchmont by developers.

The December, 2015 sale of the home at 40 Ocean Avenue to a developer, whose plan is to replace it with four new houses, fueled a coalition of residents opposed to this and other similar plans.

“It is likely that a Demolition Plan for all structures on 40 Ocean Avenue will either be granted or denied at the next (Larchmont Planning Board) meeting, scheduled for May 1 (and good news is that 40 Ocean should hopefully be number 3 on the agenda), writes LHS in a message from Preserve Larchmont.

“One key battleground right now is the historical significance of the home located at 40 Ocean. If anyone has any details/documents/photographs that support the argument that this is a historically significant home worthy of protection from demolition, please reach out to us immediately.

As well, if you have – or know anyone who has – expertise in this area, or with respect to historical and environmental protection generally, please refer them along.” All help is deeply appreciated.
