UPDATE: Police said they are looking for Z’inah Brown, who is a suspect in Wednesday’s fatal stabbing of New Rochelle High School student Valaree Schwab.
Police are still searching for the suspect in the stabbing death of a New Rochelle High School Junior at a Dunkin Donuts restaurant in New Rochelle.
The victim was 16-year-old junior Valaree Schwab, 16, of new Rochelle, according to New Rochelle Police Officer Mark McLeroy. Police said she and a teenage boy got into a fight with at least six other teenagers in the Dunkin Donuts at 646 North Avenue, across from Iona College.
Police received a call at 12:21 pm Wednesday. When they arrived, the suspect had fled. The student was taken to Jacobi Medical Center where she later died.
Grief counselors will be at the school Thursday. The school issued a statement saying, “Our hearts go out to all who have been touched by this tragic occurrence. This is a devastating loss for our school community, and our deepest condolences go out to Valaree’s family and friends.”
