CRIME OF THE WEEK:

An unoccupied car that was parked in Rye crossed the border into Mamaroneck before crashing into trees and bushes in Mamaroneck at about 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 29.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

According to a Village of Mamaroneck police report, the car was parked in a driveway at 1 Brevoort Lane before attempting its getaway, rolling down the hill, only to be stymied by vegetation in the village.

 

TOWN OF MAMARONECK

 

IDENTITY THEFT

A 50-year-old Mohegan Road man said an unknown person made fraudulent charges on his credit card using his personal information. Oct. 29

 

IDENTITY THEFT

A 31-year-old Chatsworth Avenue man said an unknown person tried to apply for a credit card using his personal information. Oct. 29

 

LEAVING THE SCENE

A 50-year-old Copley Road resident was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after allegedly striking a parked and occupied car in the Village Square Bagels parking lot on Boston Post Road. Oct. 31

 

LEAVING THE SCENE

A 27-year-old New Rochelle woman said she was attempting to turn left onto the Interstate 95 entrance ramp in Larchmont at about 4:20 a.m. when a car backed with a New Jersey registration backed out of the ramp and struck her vehicle, causing damage to the front bumper and headlight. The driver of the car allegedly fled the scene. Oct. 31

 

LARCENY

A Rockland Avenue resident said a window on his car was broken and his iPod, valued at $300, was taken sometime overnight. Nov. 3

 

LARCENY

Another Rockland Avenue resident said her pocketbook, valued at $300, her wallet, valued at $200, various credit cards, personal papers and $200 in cash were taken from her unlocked car sometime overnight. Nov. 3

 

LARCENY

An Oxford Road resident said a window on his car was broken and two bags of clothes, valued at $800, were taken sometime overnight. Nov. 3

 

LARCENY

A South Ridge Road resident said a window on his car was broken and a  wallet, which contained a variety of personal papers, and a GPS, valued at $300, were taken sometime overnight. Nov. 3

An Eton Road resident said a window on his car was broken and a bag was taken sometime overnight. Nov. 3

 

LEAVING THE SCENE
A 37-year-old New Rochelle man said he was driving east on Boston Post Road at about 7:15 p.m. when an unknown driver heading west on Boston Post Road made a U-turn in front of him.  The New Rochelle man said he was unable to stop in time, and collided with the other car, causing damage to the driver’s side of his 2004 Nissan.  The driver of the other car allegedly fled toward New Rochelle. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

The passenger-side window of a car parked in the Railroad Way lot was broken sometime overnight, but nothing was missing. Oct 28

 

YOUTH COMPLAINT
A group of youths was reportedly hanging out in the cemetery on Rockland Avenue at about 11:30 a.m. They were gone upon police arrival. Oct. 28

 

LARCENY

A leaf blower, valued at $450, was reported stolen from Mamaroneck High School. Oct. 28

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

An unknown person damaged the dashboard of a car parked in the rear lot of 875 Mamaroneck Avenue sometime overnight. It was unclear if anything was missing. Oct. 28

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A prisoner allegedly urinated in a police van at about 2:20 p.m. during transport to Westchester County Jail. Oct. 28

 

LARCENY

A 42-year-old Mamaroneck man was charged with petty larceny for allegedly taking two cartons of cigarettes, valued at $170, from CVS on Mamaroneck Avenue at about 9:20 p.m. Oct. 28

 

HIT AND RUN

A vehicle that was parked on Hillside Avenue was sideswiped by an unknown vehicle sometime overnight. Oct. 29

 

CODE VIOLATIONS

A 45-year-old New Rochelle man and a 32-year-old Mamaroneck man were charged with consuming alcohol on public land on the southbound train platform at about 7:30 p.m.

 

LARCENY

About $20 in change was taken from an unlocked car parked on Prospect Avenue sometime overnight. Oct. 30

 

HIT AND RUN

A vehicle parked on Carroll Avenue was struck by an unknown vehicle sometime after 6 p.m. on Oct. 28, causing damage to the driver-side wheel well. Oct. 30

 

DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED

A 25-year-old Larchmont man was charged with DWI at about 3:45 a.m. on Hoyt Avenue. Oct. 31

 

HIT AND RUN

A vehicle parked on Woodbine Avenue was struck by an unknown vehicle sometime overnight, causing damage to the left bumper. Oct. 31

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A car parked in a Prospect Avenue driveway sustained scratches from an unknown person sometime overnight. Oct. 31

 

YOUTH COMPLAINT

A group of youths were reportedly on the roof of a Mamaroneck Avenue building at about 9:30 p.m.  Oct. 31

 

CODE VIOLATION

A 56-year-old Mamaroneck man was charged with having an open container of alcohol on Station Plaza at about 8 p.m. Nov. 3

 

 

RYE

 

IDENTITY THEFT

A Grapal Street resident said various credit cards had been opened in his name since Oct. 22 and charges of about $500 had been made. Oct. 30

 

YOUTH COMPLAINT

Youths were found setting off fireworks at about 1:30 p.m. on Forest Avenue and Martin Butler Court. Oct. 30

 

SIMPLE ASSAULT

A 74-year-old New Rochelle man was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, reckless endangerment and misdemeanor assault after allegedly striking a 13-year-old boy while driving his car in Car Park 4 at about 5:20 p.m. According to police, the boy was riding his Razor Scooter when he was struck by the car, flipped on top of the hood, and fell to the ground, injuring his knee and ankle. The boy’s parents were called, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment. The injuries were not believed to be serious. Oct 30

 

DWI

A 55-year-old Wolcott, Conn., man was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, for having a blood-alcohol concentration above .18 at about 3:15 a.m. on Midland Avenue. According to police, the man, who was also charged with equipment violations, was driving a black Mercedes Benz without his lights on when he was involved in an accident with another driver who was attempting to turn into the Marriott Hotel parking lot.  Oct. 31

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A deer that got hung up on a Rye Road fence was put down at about 8:20 p.m. Oct. 31

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A five-foot long hole was cut into the northeast corner of the fence next to the skate park on Midland Avenue. There were no witnesses and police have no suspects at this time. Oct. 31

 

ASSAULT

A 16-year-old Rye boy was allegedly punched in the face while he was at an adult-supervised party on North Street. According to police, the boy suffered a deep laceration and a fractured orbital bone. He reported the assault to police at about 11:55 p.m. after receiving treatment. The family has decided not to press charges. Oct. 31

 

PROPERTY LOST

A 40-year-old Soundview Avenue woman said she lost her engagement ring, possibly at the Rye YMCA, on Oct. 27. She told police that she noticed the ring was loose while she was at the Y, and then later that day noticed it was gone. Nov. 1

 

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A woman said she believed a homeless man was living in the shed in the rear of Weichert Realtors on Purchase Street. The woman told police that she saw the man, who was described as white with a beard, with a backpack and a bike entering the shed at about 2:45 p.m. She later saw him leave. He returned several minutes later, she said, before leaving again. Nov. 1

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A Highland Road resident said about 60 feet of fence in his side yard was broken and knocked to the ground sometime since Oct. 31. Nov. 1

A caller reported a coyote on Garden Road at about 2:15 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 25

A caller said her son saw a coyote walk across Mamaroneck Road onto Graham Road at about 9:45 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct 25

 

DWI

A 26-year-old Yonkers woman was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated for having a blood-alcohol concentration higher than .18 and other traffic infractions at about 3:30 a.m. on Garth Road.  Oct. 26

 

LARCENY

A Secor Road resident said a window on her 2009 Mercedes was broken and her bag with personal papers was taken. Oct. 26

A Wynmor Road resident said his 2008 BMW was broken into overnight. Oct. 26

A Quentin Road resident said her son’s 1998 Honda was broken into overnight. Oct. 26

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A Mamaroneck Road resident reported a coyote in the area at about 7 p.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 27

A caller reported a coyote in the area of Catherine Road and Mamaroneck Road at about 8 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 28

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A caller reported a coyote in the area of Secor Road and Sycamore Road at about 8:15 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 28

 

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A Sycamore Road resident said a coyote attacked her dog at about 8:20 a.m. The woman told police she was in her house when she heard her dog yelp. When she looked outside, she said she saw a coyote near her dog. The resident said the coyote trotted away and she was unable to find any wounds on her dog.  Police checked the area but were unable to locate the coyote. Oct. 28

An Axtell Road resident said his car was broken into overnight. Oct. 28

A Black Birch Lane resident said a coyote was in her backyard and heading toward Correll Park at about 9:50 a.m. Police were unable to locate the animal. Oct. 28

A Colvin Road resident said his car was side-swiped at about 1:45 p.m. while it was parked in front of his house. Oct. 28

 

LARCENY

A Foxhall Place resident said a bike was stolen from her unlocked garage. Oct. 28

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

A Park Road resident said a coyote was in her front yard at about 6 p.m. The animal was gone upon police arrival Oct. 28

 

LARCENY

A Hathaway Road resident said her 2009 Acura was broken into and property removed. Oct. 28

 

ASSIST CITIZEN

An Eastchester woman who was walking in the southbound lanes of the Bronx River Parkway at about 2:30 a.m. was transported to White Plains Hospital. The woman allegedly told police she was under the influence of alcohol. Oct. 29

 

ARREST

A 45-year-old White Plains man was arrested on a bench warrant at headquarters at about 12:30 p.m. He was remanded to Westchester County Jail. Oct. 29

 

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A 17-year-old Scarsdale boy was charged with consuming alcohol on public property and taken to his parents’ home after police discovered a large group of youths in the area of the Girls Scout House on Wayside Lane at about 10:15 p.m. Oct. 29

 

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A caller reported a woman ringing doorbells on Aspen Road at about 10:45 p.m. Police were unable to locate the subject. Oct. 29

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A New Rochelle man said the windows on his Dodge Caravan were broken while it was parked on Black Birch Lane. Oct. 30

 

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A Pinecrest Road resident said four youths threw a rock at his car at about 11:15 p.m. There was no damage to his car, and police were unable to locate the subjects. Oct. 30

 

ASSIST CITIZEN

The father of a 17-year-old Mamaroneck girl was called to take custody of his daughter, who was found in the back seat of a car parked on Popham Road, apparently under the influence of alcohol at about midnight. Police said none of the other occupants of the car were under the influence of alcohol. Oct. 31

 

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Three youths were questioned at about 12:20 a.m. after police responded to a report of a fight on Cushman Road. Police did not observe a physical altercation, but did see numerous youths fleeing on foot. Police determined that no injuries had occurred and advised the youths to go home. Oct. 31

 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A caller reported a suspicious man on Tall Trees Road taking pictures at about 10:50 a.m. Police located the subject, a photography enthusiast who was taking pictures. Oct. 31

 

NOISE COMPLAINT

A Wynmor Road resident said there was a large group of youths in the park making a lot of noise at about 10:30 p.m. Police were unable to locate the subjects. Oct. 31

 

Village of Larchmont

LARCENY

A Beach Ave resident reported on 10/25 than numerous fraudulent charges had been posted on his credit card.

LARCENY

A Pryer Lane resident reported on 10/26 that sometime during the overnight hours someone removed Halloween decorations, valued at $90, from her property. 

VEHICLE IMPOUND

A scofflaw vehicle with $575 in outstanding fines was impounded and towed from Lot 10 on 10/28.

LARCENY ARREST

Larchmont Police Officers responded to a reported larceny in progress at a Larchmont Ave establishment on 10/28 and took a male suspect into custody.  The suspect had removed merchandise valued at $80 from the store.  The store owner declined prosecution.

LARCENY

A Chestnut Ave resident reported on 10/28 that his bicycle, valued at $1500, was removed during the daytime hours from the bicycle rack in Lot 1.
