We’ve got old… new… borrowed… but no blue. (Add it if you’ve got it!)

Old.  The New Rochelle Train Station is now on the National Register of Historic Places. It opened in 1848 and operated as the last stop before New York City.   The easy commute is immortalized in the song, “Only Forty-five Minutes from Broadway”, George M. Cohan’s hit musical of 1906.  And you know how theLoop loves a train story . Photo from 1900 courtesy of the local history collection of the New Rochelle Public Library.  The Station was totally renovated in 1991.

New.  Parking Meters at Larchmont Train Station that take credit cards.  Coming in a month, Anzac Sports on Boston Post Road in Larchmont between Larchmont and Chatsworth Avenues – for tennis, leisure and fitness gear. Opening March 1 in Scarsdale, Cornerstone Children’s Center, 90 Garth Road, 914-472-6300.

Borrowed.  The 2009 New York Yankees World Series Trophy will be on display in the Courtroom of Larchmont Village Hall on February 24 from 3 to 5pm.   Sponsored by the Larchmont PBA.

  1. What’s going on with the Chase bank?
Is it coming down? Is the bank moving back in or is something more useful going to open?
editrix: we reported earlier that it’s being renovated and will eventually become the one branch of Chase to stay on the corner. The future of the historic bank building (NW corner) is unknown to us.
