Recent Crimes reported from the New Rochelle Police Dept. for the two day period ending April 5-6.
COUNTERFEIT SPENDING SPREE: A 19-year-old employee of Shop Rite on Joyce Road reportedly used fake $100 bills on three separate occasions. April 5.
SEX OFFENSE: Police arrested a 59-year-old Lorenz Avenue resident for allegedly having sex with two sisters, now age 14 and 16, over a several year period. The man was a family friend of the girls, the younger of who informed police. April 5.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARIES: A group of teenagers reportedly demanded money from two men walking on Main Street. One of the teens swung a cane at the men when they refused to give them money. No one was injured. April 5.
Also on April 5, a group of teens demanded money from another man, beating him with a cane when he started to walk away from the youths. The man was treated for a lump on the back of his head and a lip injury. There is no evidence that the two attempted burglaries were connected other than the description of the youths and the weapon they used.
BURGLARY: Someone stole a cash register with $300 in it from a Rochelle Place business. The burglary occurred between 6 p.m. April 5 and 4:30 a.m. April 6.
