Mamaroneck High School nurse Karen Cofino, a 16-year veteran of the Mamaroneck School District, has been named president of the New York State Association of School Nurses.
As president, Cofino will lead the association in its mission of advancing the job of school nursing and promoting quality health care for students. Cofino has been the nursing coordinator of the Mamaroneck School District for six years, as well as a member of the local NYSASN chapter.
”I am excited to have this opportunity to move the organization forward,” Cofino says. “I envision NYSASN to be a vehicle empowering school nurses to become leaders in the school health services field. Infusing technology to promote professional growth, enhance collaboration and increase communication will promote collegiality and strengthen the practice of the professional school nurse.”
