Mamaroneck High School Field Hockey claimed its fourth straight section title with a 3-1 win over Ossining Sunday at Arlington High School in LaGrangeville, NY.
“This field hockey team has worked tirelessly and continues to work hard each year of their development,” said MHS Athletic Director Bari Suman.
Mamaroneck (18-1) controlled the pace for much of the first half, finally pushing through for the lead on senior captain Jessica Corbin’s rebound goal with 9:30 to go. The Tigers increased their lead to 2-0 heading into halftime when Jessica Gardiner scored off a corner with under two minutes to go in the half.
Mamaroneck will play Section 9’s Kingston in the regional final Saturday at noon at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton.
“The program is deeply rooted in tradition, but the past success of the program provides motivation for the team to do more and work harder,” Suman added. “The girls this year have set both individual and season goals while continuing to work as hard as they can to achieve success. As a school we are very proud of their accomplishments.”
The Tigers have fallen short in the state finals the last two years. Is this the year? Go Tigers!
