It’s becoming hard to keep track of one local man’s criminal activity.
Lee Mendes, of 1912 Palmer Avenue, owner of Plaza Bootery of Larchmont, was arrested Friday and charged criminal possession of stolen property after allegedly stealing the cash register from Love by Bella Fiora, the store next door on Thursday.
A store employee says Mendes has access to a back basement entrance shared by the two stores. Mendes is the other store owner’s landlord.
Mendes was remanded to the Westchester County jail without bail. Mendes was also charged Friday with writing a bad check for $150.
This was the second time he allegedly burglarized the same store in a two week period, sources say, though the first time the store owner did not press charges.
At the time of the incidents he was out on bail after being arrested for robbing a customer of his own store, Plaza Bootery, of her purse, February 12.
And Monday, March 5, Mendes had been arrested for repeated harassment of an unknown individual.
This comes after January’s raid on Plaza Bootery by the Westchester District Attorney’s office and the Larchmont Police Dept. where authorities recovered counterfeit merchandise, including fake Uggs boots and North Face clothing.
Mendes grew up in the area and is a graduate of Mamaroneck High School.
