Martin Joseph Fay, passed away on January 14th surrounded by family and friends following a courageous battle against pulmonary fibrosis.
Marty, 76, was a son of Francis Fay and Mary Mandeville Fay of Yonkers. His only sibling, Francis, predeceased him. Marty was also the nephew of former Yonkers City Judge, Martin Fay. Marty was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers and Fordham University. After working with area youth at the Kennedy Home, he returned to school to receive his certification in Education and began a long career as a History teacher, first at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx and then at Archbishop Stepinac High School inWhite Plains. While at Stepinac, Marty was very active in the Teachers Union, participating in the lay teachers’ strikes during the early 1980s. After his retirement from teaching, he worked for BOCES of Westchester and volunteered countless hours to Trinity Retreat House in Larchmont, and Most Holy Trinity Church in Mamaroneck. Devoted to his faith,church, and family, Marty was truly a saint among us. His kindness, compassion and friendly spirit will be missed by all. Marty is survived by his sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and more friends and acquaintances than one can imagine. A wake will be held onWednesday, January 19th from 24, and 7-9 at Fox Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Trinity Church, 320 East Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck, on Thursday, January 20 at 11:00am.
