New Rochelle Police say a 61 year old Manhattan man shot his daughter, 34, who lives in New Rochelle, then shot and killed himself about 8:00 am on Memorial Highway near the train station.
Within minutes police had sealed off the area and, witnesses said, police boarded Metro North trains at New Rochelle.
The shootings took place on Memorial Highway between Huguenot Street and Station Plaza. The woman was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center. Police had no further information on her condition.
Alfredo Monegro, age 61, of Manhattan, was dead at the scene. The female victim, his daughter, Miosotis Monegro, age 34, a resident of New Rochelle, was transported to Sound Shore Medical Center, and was listed in critical condition with a

At a late morning news conference, police said witnesses reported Monegro confronted his daughter at the location, fired one shot at her with a handgun, and then pointed the gun at his mouth and shot himself.
