Two ways to contribute on June 3…to earthquake victims in Haiti, and to cleanup efforts in the Gulf of Mexico. theLoop salutes you!

From the Mamaroneck Jr. Soccer League:

Although the events that occured in Haiti earlier this year are not as prominent in the news as they used to be, those that have suffered still need our help.

Ron Blain, the Mamaroneck girl’s varsity soccer coach, grew up in Haiti and has close family living there. As a team, we feel a strong desire to support in any way we can.

The Mamaroneck boys and girls varsity soccer teams will be holding a clinic on Thursday, June 3rd. It will take place from 4 to 6pm at the Harbor Island Field and all of the proceeds will go to Haiti. The cost is $15 per player and we ask that you please pay at the clinic on June 3rd. All Larchmont and Mamaroneck rec and travel players are encouraged to come and play for a great cause.

From Dami at The Voracious Reader:

As you know there is a HUGE oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.  Although this disaster is already having its effect on my home state of Louisiana, our entire eco-system will be affected.

One of the organizations on the front lines is the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana. CRCL is a reputable group that has been around for over 20 years. They are working together with many other agencies on the local, state and federal level advocating for clean-up efforts to begin immediately.

On Thursday, June 3rd, The Voracious Reader, as part of its first Thursday of each month Books for Good program, will donate 10% of its profits to CRCL.  It is a wonderful opportunity to stock up on birthday gifts for the coming year as well as an opportunity to contribute to a worthwhile cause.
