Scarsdale Firefighters and Police were called, the building was evacuated, the County HazMat unit showed up, and, perhaps appropriately, the psychotherapists attending a conference about trauma had to leave.
It was supposed to be “Finals Night” at the Scarsdale Library, a chance for High School students to get ready for exams. Instead, a home made stink bomb caused a HazMat team to arrive in full gear, to canvas the inside of the building and the book drop, which was reportedly destroyed. Some students waited outside up to two hours and were eventually told to go home.
Most stink bombs are made with ammonia or burning rubber.
No word on how the students fared on their exams.
