Residents report a rash of crime in the Village of Larchmont.
According to homeowners, cars and houses in the Pine Brook neighborhood have been targets of holiday-season thieves. They say someone rifled through three unlocked cars parked overnight Thursday.
One resident lost an aging GPS to the incident; Another found her glove compartment open, with papers tossed about. But whoever did that apparently didn’t find what he or she was looking for. Everything, including $5 worth of quarters, was still in the car when the owner found the mess this morning.
There were also two recent attempted home break-ins in the neighborhood, residents say. At least one of them occurred this week. Both incidents reportedly took place during the late afternoon.
Victims of the crimes say police responded by stressing the importance of keeping car and home doors locked at all times, particularly this time of year. Unfortunately, ’tis the season for this kind of stuff.
Larchmont Police did not respond to a request for more information.
