Josephine (Raffio) Girardi, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died on June 18, 2011 at the age of 93.

She was born on September 4, 1917 to the late Antonio and Antonina (DeFrancesco) Raffio. She attended school in New Rochelle and worked as a presser for 42 years in various dress factories in New Rochelle and Mount Vernon and was a member of the ILGWU

She was predeceased by her husband Frank whom she married on October 6, 1948 in St. Joseph’s Church in New Rochelle.

She is survived by her loving and devoted son, John, her beloved sister, Frances DiFabbio and her cherished nieces and nephews as well as many other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers Michael and Anthony (Chester) Raffio.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual help Church and a member of the senior citizens center.

She will be remembered for her passion of cooking and baking her specialties for the enjoyment of all her friends and family. She was an avid NY Yankees fan.

Her family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the angels of mercy of Calvary Hospital, Bronx, NY for their kindness, caring and compassion.

Visiting will be Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc. Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Pelham Manor, NY. Interment will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery.
