Joseph P. Mercurio, 87, of Hopewell Jct.and formerly of New Rochelle, died on Dec. 5, 2011 on his way to Daily Mass. He was the owner and operator of Palmer Window in New Rochelle, a parishioner of Holy Family Parish and a member of the Exchange Club, American Legion and the New Rochelle Democratic Committee.
He was drafted into Minor League Baseball by the Pirates and was inducted into the New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed baseball and football, but more than anything, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Lesser; children, Joanne (Ross) Alan, Claudia Riccardi, Barbara (Thomas) Warner, Joseph (Suzanne) Mercurio, Margaret (Lou) Valenti, Judy (Bernie) Lombardi, John (Kim) Mercurio and Gail Leak; grandchildren, Bradley (Whitney) Alan, Courtney Alan, Matthew(Alyse) Riccardi, Alyson Riccardi, Erin (Michael)Sica, Lauren (Thomas)Amenedo, Vincent Warner, Katie, Joseph & Michael Mercurio, Sara(Michael)Gideon, Juliana, Emma& Louis Valenti, Bernie, Kim& Chris Lombardi, Grace & John Thomas Mercurio, Blake& Abby, Tommy, Taylor, Hunter&Sophia Leak; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Regina and Jackson. He was predeceased by his parents, August and Margaret and his sister, Marie Corbo.
