Developments in three recent stories: The father of Sam Sawyer, the High School student injured in a
violent melee in Manor Park in Larchmont May 8 says two of the three boys accused of breaking his jaw have pled guilty and an order of protection has been offered by the Court.
The attorney representing the plaintiffs in a lawsuit claiming discrimination by Matsumoto restaurant in Larchmont says the restaurant has agreed to pay a $25,000 settlement pending Court approval. The parents of the girl involved told theLoop last July they hoped to win enough money to pay for her college. TheLoop did not report this sum earlier despite knowledge, at the request of plaintiffs' counsel.
The local fundraiser for Haiti raised $18,000 according to its organizer. Despite Danielle Sajous Yergo's reported lukewarm reception from the Rye Neck School District, School Board President Heidi Sickles tells theLoop, "
Rye Neck district's students are very much engaged in raising funds for Haiti and in learning about the situation there. I did attend the "Cocktails for a Cause" fundraiser... last night and was very happy to see that it was extremely well attended."
