Dear editrix: On behalf of all Larchmartians who are frustrated
by the archaic
feed-the-dollar-bills into-the-machine parking system we now have at
the train station, do you know if there is any update from Village Hall
on the promised new-and-improved, easy-to-use system coming in January?

... But don't forget that those super-effective village staff are the ones that we cannot afford to save by consolidating because they are such stars in managing everything else (especially contract negotiations when it comes to their salaries and perks) |

... OK, so now the fancy-shmancy-we-dont-take-AMEX cards are in place (weeks after the town said they would be, but why quibble over a few wrinkled dollar bills). BUT NOW THERE'S A NIGHTTIME CHARGE????? You mean I have to pay $8.00, DOUBLE the day rate, (when spots ARE valuable), to park from 6pm - 6am, even if its only for a 3-4 hours? It goes from FREE to $8.00?? and what if I work late and get home after 6pm??? Am I in the "nighttime" zone now?? Why? Are the spots THAT valuable at 2am to charge a premium??? Total BS..TOTAL, TOTAL BS...There are two reasons to live here. TWO: proximity to NYC/ease of the train and the schools. The school budget is a disaster, private funding had to build usable fields and now your killing us on stupid parking fees at the train. Save the copper-topped streetlights, the tree plantings the lovely, unused gazebos and the Pet Parade and make the things that matter WORK! |

... Thanks so much to theLoop for the quick follow-up! Sadly, "4-6 weeks" really means, (c'mon folks, wake up and smell the bar car!) that, given the inevitable "...unforeseen delays in installation, improper fittings and a communications glitch that have temporarily rendered the machines inoperable we-apologize-for-the-inconvenience" we won't be using these machines until the Lot #3 snow piles have long melted away. |
