from Save the Sound:

We had hoped for sun and clear skies this Memorial Day weekend, but instead we got cold and rainy.

Whenever it rains at least half an inch within 24 hours, the Westchester County Health Department closes the following beaches for one day: Harbor Island Park, Beach Point Club, Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club, Shore Acres and Orienta Club in Mamaroneck; Hudson Park, Echo Bay Club, Davenport Club, Greentree Club and Surf Club in New Rochelle; and Coveleigh Club in Rye.

If it rains more than an inch, they remain closed for two days.

An estimated 1.08 inches has fallen has fallen at the Westchester County Airport over the past 24 hours.

While no advisories have been posted yet, we recommend that any of you polar plunge types check with your club or recreation department before heading to the beach.
