Rally for Reading Luncheon Nov. 16

The author Julie Orringer and Erin Ganju, co-founder of Room to Read, a non-profit that promotes children’s literacy in poor countries, will speak at a fundraising luncheon for the organization later this month.

Sponsored by the group’s Westchester chapter, the Rally for Reading luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 16 sat the Larchmont Shore Club, 1 Oak Bluff Ave. The event, which is open to the public, will feature a silent auction. Tickets cost $50 and can be purchased online.

Since 2000, Room to Read has built more than 12,000 libraries and 1,400 schools and provided more 10,000 scholarships to girls who would otherwise be unable to continue their education.  Room to Read currently has programs in 10 countries across Asia and Africa.
