was charged with disorderly conduct early Tuesday morning in Rye after police received several calls about a loud group of men knocking over garbage cans on Purchase Street.

Police said they located three men just before 2 a.m. at the corner of Purchase Street and Purdy Avenue, and that the men admitted to tipping over the garbage cans. They said they had been out celebrating the 21st birthday of one of the three men. After being placed under arrest, they were released on their own recognizance and are due back at Rye City Court on June 7.

Mara, a former star quarterback at Iona Prep and a former member of the Fordham University football team, was named to the U.S. Army All-American team as a high school senior in 2007. He was also a fourth-team All-New York State selection as a senior.

He is the son of Frank Mara, the Giants’ director of promotions.

Pat Hanlon, vice president of communications for the Giants, said the team would have no comment.
