Frances Fanelli, a 55-year resident of Larchmont and founder and co-owner of Fran’s Tag Sales, a Westchester county institution, died suddenly and peacefully in her home on Thursday, January 16, 2014. She was born April 11, 1927 in St. Agatha, Italy to Carmine & Anna Mavila.
Fran was a long-time member of the Women’s Club of Larchmont and a parishioner of St. Augustine’s Church. With her son Michael, she owned and operated Fran’s Tag Sales, an appraisal and estate sale company that operated throughout Westchester County. The company will continue to operate under Michael’s direct management.
Fran was predeceased by her husband Mike Fanelli, owner of Fanelli Hair Stylist, a second generation Larchmont-based business, originally established by his father Louis Fanelli in 1932. Fran raised five children that all attended schools in the Larchmont and Mamaroneck School System. A loving, caring and always special woman, mother and grandmother, she leaves behind her children, Duke and his wife Donna of Manhattan; Michael and his wife Anna of Larchmont; Peter and his wife Theresa of Larchmont; her son Chris of Danbury, CT, and daughter Claudia and her husband Edward Fortunato of Bethel, CT. She leaves eight loving grandchildren: Michael, Carina, Alicia, Michelle, Peter and Giana Fanelli and Gabriella and Ed Fortunato.
Her children and grandchildren were blessed by their close knit and loving relationship among each other and with the family’s matriarch, mother and grandmother. Her love and caring will be forever missed by all that knew her.
