Westchester Crime Stoppers, the once ubiquitous partnership between police and the public, has had a revival of sorts.
The program offers cash rewards to help police solve crimes. It is funded by tax-deductible donations from businesses, clubs, associations and individuals.
Westchester Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information about two recent armed bank robberies that occurred in Westchester:
- On March 10, at 10:45 a.m., a white male armed with a handgun robbed the Hudson City Bank branch at 2040 Boston Post Road in Larchmont. Bank employees described the suspect as tall, having a large build, and wearing black gloves, black hat, black jacket and a red shirt.
- On March 11, at 9:15 a.m., a black male armed with a handgun robbed the JP Morgan Chase Bank branch at 12 Ashford Avenue in Dobbs Ferry. The suspect, who wore a ski mask and sunglasses, is described as 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a black or dark blue hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap under the hooded sweatshirt, and black-and-white sneakers with a thick sole that appeared to be in new condition.
If you have information about either of these robberies, please call 800-898-8477.
