On Tuesday, October 17, the Mamaroneck School Board says it will begin to “plan for a broader community conversation” regarding how the school district should meet its current enrollment of 5600 students — nearly 650 students more than were enrolled in the fall of 2010. Since that time, the student population has grown 13%, with the largest increases over the past three years.
The administration will present “important information, including updated enrollment data and an outline of some of the potential options to be investigated and considered.”
Although there will be limited opportunity for public comment at Tuesday’s meeting, there will be many opportunities throughout the year, starting with two community meetings to be held at the Hommocks Middle School on Monday, October 23, at 9:30 am and 7:00 PM.
These meetings will provide opportunities for you to ask questions and offer feedback.
The October 17 meeting will include a number of other topics, including Co-Op Camp, Food Services, the presentation of an audit report, and a budget update.
