Stiltwalker welcomes guests to the mansion

Autumn in New York is about foliage, fall flavors and above all, family as demonstrated by the commitment of one local father/daughter team.  John Bello and Lindsay Bello Martin are donating more than 1500 bottles of their delicious All Natural Reed’s Ginger Beer and All- Natural Virgil’s Sodas for JAY DAY!  Their generosity will ensure that one of the Hudson Valley’s premiere generational gatherings in Rye is a standout for all the parents, grandparents, children and caregivers who attend.

Recognized as one of the Sound Shore community’s fastest growing festivals, JAY DAY, is held at the ancestral home of Revolutionary War figure, John Jay, and is one of several signature Hudson River Valley Ramble happenings.

John and his daughter have been in the food and beverage business for a combined 60 plus years. Philanthropy is another shared interest and family tradition. “The Jay Heritage Center is a family centered educational park and that resonated with us,” says Lindsay whose children Ben (8), Archie (6) and Beatrix (3), took their first pony rides at the Jay Estate. According to Suzanne Clary, the landmark site was a working farm with apple orchards and cherry trees so collaborating with a company that uses natural ingredients is a super fit.

The restoration of the mansion and grounds has  transformed the Jay Estate.

Hosted by the non-profit Jay Heritage Center, Jay Day takes place rain or shine on Sunday, September 23rd from 11am – 3pm. Highlights include live music from Bach to Rock, exquisitely hand-cut portrait silhouettes by artist Varin Acevado, and book signings with best selling Scholastic Dragon Masters author Tracey West who will debut her long awaited 11th book in the series – Shine of the Silver Dragon – in advance of its publication date. Families will also love the Bubble Bus, Pied Piper Pony Rides, and historical house tours.

Sip on an All- Natural Virgil’s, New Zero Sugar black cherry, root beer or old fashioned cream soda while sampling bites from the Melt Mobile, Jimmy’s Soft Serve, the Waffle Box, Burger Truck NY, The Souvlaki Truck, Scarborough Fair Catering / SF Express and ABC Cakes.

Unique gifts from local vendors like Larchmont’s Circle 7 Framing and crafts from MADE: my art + design experience will be available for purchase. Kids can also make a cabinet of curiosities with One River art instructors. Face-painting and balloon animals are all included in the cost of admission as are miniature take-home terracotta garden pots filled with pansies for your windowsill.

Proceeds will benefit the transformation of the historic Jay Estate into a 23 acre educational park full of fun and exciting outdoor and indoor experiences.

Admission is $40 per Family; $10 Individual.

Jay Day Gold Supporters will get a private tour of the historic 1907 Clocktower!

  1. John Jay……………one of my favorite patriots. How nice of the locals, such as Circle 7 Framimg to donate gifts. I’m sure your celebration will be a great success. Wish I could be there.
