Judging by the stuffed itinerary, the official re-opening of the newly expanded and modernized Mamaroneck Public Library is going to be a big deal. Here is an insider draft of the events scheduled for Saturday, September 17.

9:45 AM– Assemble for 10 AM Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony (front of building, Prospect Ave.)

11:30 AM to Noon – Nancy Silberkleit, Co-CEO of Archie Comics, Multipurpose Room
12 Noon – Guest Author: Howard Jordan, Mommat and Me in Children’s Room
12:15 – 4 PM — Historic Mamaroneck Village Show in Community Room (from end of Lee Stringer till 4 p.m.)
1 PM – Guest Reader: Jenelle Bailey of TD Bank reading The Can Man in Children’s Room
1 PM – The Soundettes, a cappella music group, Mezzanine balcony
1:30 PM – Mary Louise Cox, Mamaroneck Village & Mamaroneck Town Poet Laureate, shares poetry for kids & families in Children’s Room
2 PM – String Duet, MHS Students Mackenzie Lesser-Roy (cello), Sarah Campbell (violin), Mezzanine Balcony
2 PM to 4 p.m.  Meet the Artist, David LaSpina, photo exhibit in Art Gallery

**  Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Timeline (times very approximate):
9:30 AM  — Prospect Ave street closed to traffic from Mamk Ave to Library Lane
9:45 AM – Jazz Group: Steph Chinn, Tom Mandel, George Lore (maybe on sidewalk if no room above?)
·        At 9:50 or 9:55, MHS “The Force” drumline assembles on Mamaroneck Ave (either at Hook & Ladder or Regatta) then begins march to Library
·        Dignitaries are assembled
·        Clifford the Red Dog comes out when crowd gathers w/event schedules in basket
10/10:05 AM – The Force enters playing
10:05 AM– Library Board Pres. Jeff Meighan intro’s National Anthem singer Carly Rose Sonenclar who sings, then leads pledge (or Jeff?)
10:10 AM – Jeff intro’s dignitaries who each give speeches &  afterward recognizes other dignitaries in the audience (look for school district supt’s, Village Trustees; key village personnel, Library Trustees, etc.)
Expected dignitaries (speaking): Congresswoman Nita Lowey, State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer, State Assemblyman George Latimer, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, Westchester County Legislator Judy Myers, Mayor Norm Rosenblum, Library Director Susan Benton, Friends of the Library President Lee Stringer
10:40 AM (or when dignitary speeches end) – Jeff intro’s Building Committee Chair Helen Rafferty who speaks about the project (recognizes architect George Schieferdecker & Construction Manager George Psillos), then will invite Lynn Straus to join her in cutting the ribbon (other dignitaries should all line up holding the long ribbon). Photo opp. – someone to take picture?
10:45 AM – Jeff (or other, Carolyn?) sums up days featured events – highlights
11 AM (or upon end of ceremony) street can re-open to traffic

In case of rain, ribbon cutting ceremony will be indoors.
