Margaret “Peg” FitzGerald, 73, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of New Rochelle, passed away on March 28, 2015. Peg was a native of Jersey City and a proud graduate of both St. Peter’s College (now University) and Iona College (MBA), and a longtime employee of Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle. She was a parishioner, choir member, CCD teacher, Girl Scout Leader, and more at Sts. John and Paul in Larchmont.
Alissa Marie Hochman, of Harrison, sadly and tragically passed away February 21 at age 18. Born December 20, 1996 to Glen & Anamarie (DiPietro) Hochman. Alissa was a student at Harrison High School. She was an active and dedicated volunteer with Harrison EMS and Harrison Fire Explorer’s Post. She also volunteered with the Larchmont Fire Dept.
Mary C. Dikeman, age 103, passed away on January 3, 2015. She was born on February 28, 1911 in Philadelphia, PA to Janet Wilson Ord and Leander Chapin Claflin. A long time resident of Larchmont, NY, Mary also lived in Armonk, NY and Greenwich, CT. She had been a resident of the Osborn Retirement Community in Rye, NY since 1996. Mary was active in the Larchmont Garden Club, the Larchmont Cotillion and the Larchmont Yacht Club Ladies Sailing.
Bernadette Mauro, of Mamaroneck, passed away December 4, 2014, at age 74. Born January 17, 1940 to John & Gertrude Morrissey. Bernadette worked for 15 years managing the food service for Blessed Sacrament School and Mamaroneck Avenue School. For 20 years, she volunteered her time as a CCD Teacher at St. Augustine’s in Larchmont.
George Derderian, 80, of San Jose, CA, formerly of White Plains, NY passed away peacefully on November 25, 2014, following a brief illness. George was born in Boston on January 7, 1934 and was the only child of the late George and Agnes (Day). George grew up in Milton, MA. At a young age, he enlisted in the US Army and was deployed during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Rollins College in Florida, where he was a star baseball pitcher.
Marie Joanna Peterson died unexpectedly at her home on November 25, 2014, at age 90. She was born in Seattle, Washington, on June 5, 1924, to Robert Y. Kawamura and Yasuyo Watanabe Kawamura. When she was 17, Marie was incarcerated with her parents in a Japanese internment camp in Idaho, Minidoko, along with 9,000 other Japanese-Americans. Marie’s older sister Mary, who was in nursing, was able to arrange Marie’s sponsorship by the Catholic Church in Minneapolis, where the two sisters shared a room in the basement of a hospital. There she completed her secondary school studies and enrolled at the University of Minnesota, where she studied nursing and met her husband, John Peterson.
Otto Plaue, died peacefully in Mamaroneck, N.Y. on November 12, 2014 at age 98. WW II veteran. Owned painting & paperhanging business in Larchmont, N.Y. Enjoyed fishing, traveling with our Airstream and playing the harmonica. Wife, Sonja died in 1990. Survived by 2 sons, Peter and Eric and 3 grandchildren.
Kenneth Paterno, of Mamaroneck, passed away October 29, 2014 at age 67. Born December 11, 1946 to Joseph & Antoinette Paterno. For 43 years, Ken worked for the Parks Department of the Town of Mamaroneck and was a former volunteer of the Larchmont Fire Department. He is survived by his beloved wife, Denise, and cherished brothers, Dominick, Joseph Jr & Michael Paterno. Patricia Quinn Flint Straub, a life-long resident of Larchmont, NY, passed away on September 5, 2014 in St. Augustine, FL at the age of 90. She was born May 13, 1924 to Nellie and Thomas H. Quinn and raised in New York, NY. Pat graduated from The College of New Rochelle and worked as a realtor for Owen A. Mandeville, Merritt Associates, and Coldwell Banker. She was a parishioner of Saints John and Paul Church and had a lifetime involvement in many church and civic organizations.She is survived by her daughter, Catharine A. Flint of St.
Ruth (Okon) Grainger, 83, passed away into God’s loving arms on September 28, 2014. Born in Harrison, New York, on April 9th 1931, she was the loving daughter of Ruth and Ludwig Okon. Formerly of Mamaroneck, NY, Ruth retired with her beloved husband to Ocala, FL and spent the last years of her life at Maplewood Assisted Living in Danbury, CT. Fulfilling her lifelong passion Ruth graduated from Misericordia Hospital in the Bronx as a Registered Nurse and went back to private duty nursing after she was the best Mom to her six children. She is the beloved wife of the late John W. Grainger.
Anthony Thomas McAndrews Jr., 72, of Mamaroneck, NY died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, September 28, 2014 after living with Parkinson’s for 12 years. ”
Tony Mac” was born the New Year’s Baby of 1942 in Parkchester, NY to the late Anthony Thomas McAndrews Sr. and Harriet McAndrews. He is survived by wife of 37 years, Maria, brothers, Phil and Larry, and children Dawn, Tracy, Stacy, and Mark, and preceded by his sister Barbara McAndrews Santucci. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Max, Christopher, Vanessa, Samantha, Michael, Ewan, Brandon, Connor, and Casey. Tony graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in 1960 and, after serving as a U.S. Army Ranger from 1960 to 1962, worked as a UPS driver in Mamaroneck for 32 years until his retirement in 1998.
Mary Elizabeth Molloy, a longtime resident of Larchmont, died Aug. 27. She was 54. Molloy was born to Kathleen C. Molloy and John F. Molloy, Jr. She was a poet and thespian, and authored the chapbook “Lanyards.” She earned a Master of Arts degree from Hofstra University, and resided in Long Beach, Long Island for a decade.
Thomas Kearns, a 75 year resident of Larchmont, NY passed away on the morning of August 2, 2014. He is survived by his wife Patricia and his daughter Gabrielle. He was predeceased by his son T.J. and his mother Mary O’Shea. Formerly of Merrill Lynch, Mr. Kearns was the First Vice President of Securities and Research. Also an avid sports fan, Mr. Kearns’s baseball memorabilia collection was extensive.

Carol Kinghan (nee Graff), a resident of Rye, NY died surrounded by her loving daughter, partner and family on July 31, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. Carol loved life and smiled through all of its glories, trials and tribulations. She was a strong woman and through the worst of times she looked forward to what life offered, remained positive and was an inspiration to all who knew her.Carol was born to William and Anna (Restuccio) Graff in Carmel, NY on July 26, 1961. Louise V. Donsavage, 96, formerly of Mamaroneck, died in Pleasantville on July 20, 2014 at age 98. Beloved wife of the late Anthony Donsavage, devoted mother of Richard A. Born in Heidelberg, Germany on March 9, 1923, anti-Semitism forced him out of school in fifth grade and into a jewelry apprenticeship. He emigrated to England in 1939 and following the Nazi invasion of Poland, was shipped to Australia as a prisoner of war. When Japan declared war, he fought in the Australian Army. After the war, he joined his parents in the US and worked as a jeweler on 47th street until 2011. In 1955, he married Janet Goldfarb.
Jennie Troilo, 89, of Mamaroneck, New York, passed away on April 27, 2014. She was born on February 25, 1925 to the Late Euclide and Mary (nee- Michelli) Brondoli. Jennie was married to the late Frank Pascale of Harrison in 1944 and is survived by three children; Susan Pascale, Ronald (Dorothy) Pascale and Joan Pascale (Richard) Goldstein, four grandchildren; Michael (Kim) Pascale, Ronnie (Stacey) Pascale, Aimee Pascale and Chloe Goldstein, two great grandchildren; Tabatha and Brayden Pascale. Jennie married the late Dominic Troilo in 1967 and is survived two step-children; Nicholas (Emily) Troilo and Lois Troilo, a brother, Gus (Tizziana) Troilo and a sister in law, Karen Troilo. Jennie graduated from Mamaroneck High School and then worked as a legal secretary in Larchmont, NY.

Angelo Rigano, a lifetime Mamaroneck resident, passed away April 14, 2014, at age 101. Born June 29, 1912 to Santo & Gaetana Rigano. He graduated from Mamaroneck High School, where he was a football player. Angelo worked with his brothers building houses in Westchester. He joined the Army and served his country in Europe during WWII.
Matthew “Matty” Salamon was born on October 31, 1924 and lived most of his life in Mamaroneck, NY. Matty passed away on April 6, 2014 at his home in Danbury, CT. He is survived by his son, Andy Salamon and his wife, Nan of Killington, VT; his daughter, Pamela Clark and her husband, Edward of Danbury, CT; his daughter Valerie Salamon of Harrison, NY; and grandchildren, Betsy Paynter and her husband, Brad of Newtown, CT; Matthew F. Salamon and his wife, Abbey of Doylestown, PA; Bonnie Jean Dos Santos of Florida; Drew Brent of North Carolina; Amanda Clark and Robert Clark of Danbury, CT. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Althea Paynter, Grenville Paynter, Mia Salamon and Zoe Salamon. Matty was predeceased by his wife of fifty-one years, Bonnie Lou Salamon and a son, Matthew J. Salamon.

She was 93, born in Mamaroneck on April 9, 1920 to the late John and Emelia (nee Mason) Sarlo. Beloved wife of 70 years to the late James Capiola, loving mother of James (Candy) Capiola and Dr. Raymond (Nellie) Capiola, devoted grandmother of James (Tina) Capiola, Lynn (Joe) Zicari, Drs. David (Julie) Capiola and Christina Capiola and great-grandmother of Audrey, Brandon and Justin Capiola, cherished sister of Humphrey Sarlo and many dear nieces and nephews. Joseph M. Tighe, a 30 year resident of Darien, CT, passed away in the comfort of his home on Sunday evening, March 2nd at the age of 76. Joe was born on June 9, 1937 in Yonkers, NY. He spent much of his life in the NY/CT area raising six children with his beloved wife, Elaine, of 51 years. He later became a grandfather, warmly cherished as”Popsie” by his twenty grandchildren. Richard (Dick) Osler Hargrave died Saturday, January 18, 2014. Mr. Hargrave was the son of the late Joseph Groo Hargrave and the late Alice Osler Hargrave, both of Pittsburgh. He survived the late Dorothy Hargrave, the late Jean Black and the late Robert Hargrave, all of Pittsburgh. Dick married Mary Wolverton Whigham in 1955, who is also a native of Pittsburgh. The Hargrave’s moved to NY City in the 1960’s, then later to Larchmont where they raised their family.

Elaine Quinn McHugh Died on January 7, 2014 after a short illness. Daughter of John and Florence (Sweeney) Quinn of Westerly and Watch Hill, RI, and New York City. She graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Providence, RI, and Manhattanville College. Her dearly loved husband of 57 years, Richard Nevin McHugh, died in 2007. They moved to Larchmont, NY, in 1956, where they were long-time members of the Larchmont Yacht Club and she was active in the Junior League, Women’s Club, and numerous other organizations.
Anthony J. Lifrieri, a retired Town of Mamaroneck Police Officer died on January 4, 2014. He was 87. Mr. Lifrieri was born in Harrison and was a veteran of the Navy where he served during WWII and later the Korean Conflict. He was dedicated to his community with 30 years of service to the Town of Mamaroneck Police Dept.
