Stories of resilience in the face of tremendous odds will be the theme in Room to Read Westchester’s Rally for Reading on April 10, 12-2:30pm, at the Larchmont Shore Club, an event featuring a talk by Christine Baker Kline, author of New York Times’ bestseller “Orphan Train,” a luncheon, and silent auction. The $75 ticket includes a copy of the book. All proceeds will benefit Room to Read, a global non-profit organization seeking to transform the lives of millions of children in Asia and Africa by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education.
The public is invited to this afternoon of inspiring stories, a delicious luncheon, and fun-filled shopping for a cause at the silent auction featuring donations from local vendors and residents. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at: http://bit.ly/1iBGz8g.
The Westchester Chapter of Room to Read, founded in November 2010, is part of Room to Read’s network of over 50 volunteer chapters worldwide which collectively bring in one-third of the organization’s operating budget. Since 2000, Room to Read has impacted the lives of nearly nine million children and aims to reach 10 million children by 2015.
