You might want to consult a map the next time that you decide to document Mount Vernon’s south side. Several of the photos are actually on the NORTH side of the tracks. The Portuguese Club is on Prospect Avenue (North Side) and so is the auto body shop (Elm Avenue). Photojournalism drive-bys in the age of Google maps is unacceptable.
These photos of Mount Vernon are great, Jacqueline! Yes, we definitely agree with mrsleigh and Polly that there are beautiful sights on the North Side of Mount Vernon but you can still find beauty on the South Side.

Thanks, mrsleigh. Much of Mount Vernon is very beautiful, especially on the North Side. As we noted, we chose to focus on the South Side last week.
