A public hearing in the Town of Mamaroneck Wednesday will debate a plan to restrict parking in the area surrounding Washington Square, a district that includes nine apartment buildings.

The Town is proposing changing parking regulations in the area to a limit of three hours between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

While residents will be able to buy a parking sticker ($25 annually) for the area, some people oppose the restrictions that will affect guests of residents and clients, customers and employees of businesses in the buildings and the surrounding area, such as on Myrtle Boulevard.

“When my daughter comes to visit for a few days, for example,” says resident Ralph Engel, “she would have to go outside every three hours and move her car.”

A copy of a notice being sent around by opponents is below.
