It may be August before Mamaroneck residents who have complained about late night noise at Molly Spillane’s Bar and Restaurant learn if the Village Zoning Board will take action.
The multi-level restaurant with outdoor dining space on the front sidewalk and a patio overlooking Mt. Pleasant Street is a popular gathering place that sponsors many events.
About 200 Village of Mamaroneck residents have signed a petition urging the village Zoning Board to consider dozens of noise complaints made against Molly Spillane’s before renewing its special permit to run a restaurant. (Application #3SP-2008, 211 MAMARONECK AVE. RESTAURANT
LLC, D/B/A MOLLY SPILLANE’S, 211 Mamaroneck Avenue, (Section 9, Block 19, Lot 1A) to renew a special permit to operate a restaurant. (C-2 District)
Molly Spillane’s responded with a petition of its own, which had 600 signatures at press time.
Village resident Kate Priest, who helped organize the anti-noise petition, and who has spoken at length before the Zoning Board, lives on Prospect Avenue and says the bar is not complying with village code. But according to a representative for the restaurant, while there have been 148 noise complaints from 2011 to 2013, none have resulted in a violation.
The Zoning Board’s next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 7 .
