Thanks to Mamaroneck Village Mayor Norm Rosenblum for this photo of the first (official) cars on the new bridge…. we’d love to hear what regular cars think of it.

The reconstruction of the bridge began in September 2012 at a projected cost of $3.5 million —but that was before a sewer pipe burst, when costs rose to $4.2 million.

3 million gallons of raw sewage leaked into the Mamaroneck River, according to officials, and the village was hit with a $17,000 fine.

The bridge over the Mamaroneck River provides easier access from Mamaroneck Avenue to Halstead Ave., and helps route trucks off a busy stretch of Mamaroneck Avenue
