Coming Up: Right Tree in the Right Place -Jan 15

As part of its Home Gardening Series, the Westchester office of the Cornell Cooperative Extension is hosting a talk by Amy Albam on Wednesday, January 15, from 10 am to 12pm at the Anthony Veteran Park in Greenburgh, located at 11 Olympic Lane, Ardsley.


Albam, the new horticulture educator for the Westchester office, will suggest replacement trees for those that suffered storm damage and new tree choices for suburban homeowners. Special emphasis will be placed on appropriate trees for our area. She will also discuss climate change and practices that minimize the need for pesticides and fertilizers.


Albam earned a BS in horticulture at SUNY Empire State College and worked for 22 years at the Rockland County’s Extension office. She is an expert in diagnosing plant diseases.


Directions to the Anthony Veteran Park are: From (North or South) take Saw Mill Parkway to Dobbs Ferry/Ardsley, Exit 17. Turn onto Ashford Ave at light. (Left from North or right from South) Proceed two lights and turn left onto 9A North. Turn right onto Heatherdell Rd. Continue approx. 1 mile and then turn left onto Olympic Lane. Go to Multipurpose Bldg. – Room 1
