The landlord at 1989 Palmer Ave. in Larchmont has given the space to students at SUNY Purchase to run a gallery for a few months.
Gallery 1989 is an art exhibition space and accredited appraisal center.
Development, an exhibition showcasing the work of Samantha Harmon and Lindsay Garcia, features a live performance that will “focus on women in the home/work environment and the power structures therein, taking cues from cinematic star Bette Davis and her infamous role in Of Human Bondage.”
This work will be performed live at Gallery 1989 during the opening reception on Saturday, March 22nd at 7pm. The exhibition will be on view until April 4th.
Andrew Francella, the Landlord, said “I sit on the Board of the Rye Arts Center and I became aware of an interest among Art students at SUNY Purchase to set up a Pop Up Gallery and have offered it to them for a couple of months. It is much needed positive energy.”
