Inspired by real-life events, Lie, the new book for young adults by New Rochelle native Caroline Bock, broaches suburban issues no one wants to talk about — teens, race, hatred and love.

On Friday, Bock will share insight into her story of teens and a vicious hate crime against Hispanics based on an actual incident on Long Island from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at The Voracious Reader, 1997 Palmer Ave. in Larchmont.

Lie‘s story is told through 10 distinct points of view, five teen and five adults. Reviewers are praising Lie for being “unusual and important.”

Bock will  share the spotlight with fellow teen writer Tara Altebrando whose book, Dreamland Social Club, is a tale of personal growth set in Coney Island.

The event is appropriate for teens ages 14 and up.
