A No-Stress Way To Feed Hungry Neighbors

The Partnership makes feeding needy neighbors simple and gratifying.

As a longtime Larchmont native, I was surprised to learn there is a local charity that I had never heard of: The Partnership. Its goal is to provide a simple way for busy people to feed homebound neighbors who rely on The Larchmont-Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force for groceries.

Once a month, The Partnership collects a “special” food item for the Food Pantry, which is the nickname for the Hunger Task Force. It could be coffee, yogurt or grapefruit… anything extra. “The Food Pantry can’t afford small treats that feel like a great luxury to someone shut-in and in need. The recipients– 50 homebound residents– are polled for items they would like to receive. The results become the monthly items emailed to the Partnership donor list”, explains Anne LoBue, a volunteer. “It’s a really low-key, neighborly way of helping out, no pressure, no guilt, just 1 extra item in your grocery cart”.

Joining The Partnership is as easy as 1-2-3.

  1. Sign up at Partnership@LMFoodPantry.org to receive an email with that month’s food item.
  2. Add the item to your shopping cart when you make a regular trip to the grocery store.
  3. Drop it off at one of two local residences.

Volunteers have coolers on their porch and at a specified time, they bring collections to the pantry. Any extra food is then dispensed to the other 50 families that depend on the Food Pantry.
